Guest Seats
Definition: Free or low-cost seats for external collaborators (clients, contractors) scoped to specific workspace areas.
What it is
Guest seats let workspaces invite external people (clients, freelancers, vendors) without paying full-team-member pricing. Guests typically have access scoped to specific channels, projects, or records and cannot see the rest of the workspace. Guest pricing varies — some vendors include limited guests free, others charge a reduced per-seat fee.
Why it matters
Agencies, consultancies, and project-based businesses live or die by guest pricing. A workspace that charges full price for client access becomes prohibitively expensive at scale.
Layer UI in context
Layer UI includes 3 free guest seats per workspace and charges $4/guest/month beyond that — meaningfully cheaper than full $12/seat pricing.
